dc.description.abstract The objectives of the study are to find out the types of directive illocution based on the conversation in “Miracle Worker”, and to describe the application of directive illocution in teaching speaking. This research belongs to a descriptive qualitative research because the researcher wants to describe about kinds of directives illocution in film Miracle Worker. In this research, the object as all the utterances of film Miracle Worker. The researcher use documentation to collect the data. He did the steps such as reading the script, watching film, collecting, making table, classifying, making the table of the data that categorized into directive illocution. The result of this research shows that there are four kinds of directive illocution in film Miracle Worker. There are 9 utterances of commanding, 4 ordering, 4 requesting and 1 suggesting. First is commanding. There are 9 utterances that are the number of percentage 50%. Second is ordering. There are 4 utterances that are the number of percentage 22,2%. Third is requesting. There are 4 utterances that are the number of percentage 22,2%. The fourth is suggesting. There is only 1 utterances that are the number of percentage 5,6%. The researcher hopes that this research will be useful for teachers, students, and another researcher. en_US
