Abstract:
This research was conducted at SMK Plus Tunas Bangsa Kebasen from
12th April to 25th April 2016. The objective of this research is to describe whether
course review horay is effective or not for teaching reading narrative text at tenth
grade of SMK Plus Tunas Bangsa in the academic year 2015/2016.
The researcher applies quantitative method to discuss and find out the
problem appearing in this study. This study can be categorized as experimental
research. The population of this research is 306 at the tenth grade students of
SMK Plus Tunas Bangsa in the academic year of 2015/2016. The sample of this
research is 70 from two classes, TKJ consists of 35 students as the control group,
and PM consists 35 students as the experimental group. The sampling technique
which is used is purposive sampling.The research design of this research is using
quasi experimental design using “non-equivalent control group design. Then, the
research used pretest and posttest.
After analyzing the data, the researcher concludes that teaching reading by
Course Review Horay is effective in teaching reading narrative text. It can be seen
from the mean score of experimental group and control group. the mean score of
experimental group is 78.62. Meanwhile, the mean of control group is 63.08. It
shows that the t-value is higher than t-table (9.338>1.999) with probability (p)
lower than ɑ (0.05), it is 0.000 < 0.05. with 0.95 or 95%of significance level, Ho
is rejected and Ha is accepted. Therefore, the use of Course Review Horay in
teaching reading narrative text at the tenth grade of SMK Plus Tunas Bangsa
Kebasen in the academic year of 2015/2016 is effective.
