The goal of the research is to find out whether or not using guided writing
strategy is effective in teaching writing descriptive text at the seventh grade
students of SMP PGRI 1 Kuwarasan in the academic year of 2015/2016. The
researcher used quantitative with pre-experimental design. Population of this
research is all seventh grade students that consist of 120 students. The researcher
took one class as sample. They are B class that consists of 30 students. The
sampling technique which is used is purposive sampling and used essay test as the
instrument. To analyze data, the researcher used descriptive analysis.
The result shows that guided writing is effective in teaching writing
descriptive text, to measure the effectiveness of the use of guidedwriting, the
researcher used t-test. This test was used to measure the difference between mean
of pre test and post test. The mean of pre-test is 70.23 and the mean of post-test is
75.97. In addition, the result of t-value is 17.885. then, the researcher consults the
critical value on t-table using 5% (0.05) alpha significance and the degree of
freedom is 2.000. From its computation using SPSS, the result showed that sig (2-
tailed) was 0.00, it can be conclude that sig (2-tailed) <α5%( 0.00<0.05).
Therefore, the researcher can concluded that guided writing is effective in
teaching writing descriptive text at the seventh grade students of SMP PGRI 1
Kuwarsan in the academic year of 2015/2016. |
