Abstract:
This research aimed to know: (1) how is students ability on pronouncing Arabic & English consonants and (2) Is ther any significant influence of Students’ Arabic Pronunciation Ability on Their English Pronunciation Ability at The Eight Grade of MTsN Purworejo in The Academic Year 2016/2017.
This is a descriptive analysis research. The researcher collected the data from two classes contain 62 students. They are asked to read Arabic and English words and the researcher recorded them. There was no threatment to the sample. The researcher analyzed the data by using Microsoft Excel, a calculation software.
Based on the calculation, the avarege score of students arabic pronunciation in the eighth grade of MTsN Purworejo is 80.56. This score is included in the good category range. The highest score is 88 and the lowest one is 65. The range between the highest and the lowest is ony 23. It means that the ability difference on pronouncing arabic sound among students is not too far. The students English prononciation mastery mean score is 76.62. It is included in the good category too. There is no student in the poor and fail degree. The researcher finds some significant influence of Arabic pronunciation ability on English pronunciation ability. The correlation value is 0.74. It is included on high correlation coeficience.
