dc.description.abstract English is very important for communication. People can express their ideas for communicate. Communication is speak with other. It means that language should be learned by people around the world. Reading is one of daily activity in human life. Teaching reading English can improve the other skills especially for listening, writing and speaking. The purpose of reading is help the reader comprehend with the text. In addition, reading gives someone for information and for pleasure. This study is aimed at find is the effectiveness of using Reciprocal Teaching in teaching reading comprehension of analytical exposition at the eleventh grade of MAN Kutowinangun in the academic year of 2016/2017. Recipocal Teaching has four strategies. They are summarizing, questioning, clarifying, and predicting. The researcher used quantitative research. The population of the study is 259 students’ the eleventh grade of MAN Kutowinangun in the academic year of 2016/2017. The samples were two classes, namely XI IIA 1 is 32 students and XI IIA 2 is 32 students. The total was 64 students.The sample was divided into two groups. Experimental group (XI IIA 1) was taught by applying Reciprocal Teaching while the control group (XI IIA 2) was taught without applying Reciprocal Teaching. This samples was chosen by purposive sampling technique. This research was conducted by giving pre-test, applying treatment for experimental group by using reciprocal teaching and common way for control group, and giving post-test. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula to show the effectiveness of using reciprocal teaching. The result of the research show the mean score of post-test of experimental group is 75.31 and the mean score of post-test of control group is 70.28. It means that the result of post-test of experimental group is higher than control group. The result of t-value is 2.890 and then the reseacher consult the critical value on the t-table using 5% (0.05) alpha level significance and the degree of freedom is 1.999. It show that t-value is higher than t-table that is 2.890 > 1.999. It means that using Reciprocal Teaching in teaching reading comprehension of analytical exposition text at the eleventh grade of MAN Kutowinangun in the academic year of 2016/2017 is effective. en_US
