dc.description.abstract Speaking is important in real live and it is a complex skill that is supported by some components of a language and one of them is pronunciation. Pronunciation is one of the important part in teaching and learning english. Because it can support the mastery of four language skill especially listening and speaking. However teachers do not pay attention to teach pronunciation to their students’, so that the students do not got much knowledge of pronunciation. The objective the research is to find out whether cambridge electronic dictionary is effective or not as media to teach pronunciation of pure vowel sounds at the eleventh grade students of SMK Batik Perbaik Purworejo in the academic year of 2016/2017. This research belongs toexperimental research because in conducting the research, the researcher used pre-test and post-test control group design, in which experimental group or control group arenot chosen randomly. The research was carried out at SMK Batik Perbaik on April until May 2017. The researcher uses quasi experimental design. The researcher used purpose sampling technique. To collect the data, the researcher used test as the instrument. There were pre-test and post-test. To analyze the data, the researcher used t-test formula. The result ofdata computation indicates that the mean score of post-test of experimental group is higher than the mean score of post-test of control group is (78.87>71.90). In addition, the result of t-value is 4,81. Then, the researcher consults the critical value on the t-tabel using 5% (0.05) alpa level significance and the degree of freedom is 1.697. It means that t-value is higher than t-tabel (4.81>1.697). It can be concluded that cambridge electronic dictionary is effective as media in teaching to teach pronunciation of pure vowel sounds at the eleventh grade students of SMK Batik Perbaik Purworejo. en_US
