Abstract:
The research reports the influence of film trailer toward student’s writing
skill in narrative text. The aims of the research were to find out the influence of
film trailer toward students’ writing narrative text and to find out students’
responses after using film trailer as media in teaching narrative text. The
research used classroom action which consists of two classes. The subjects were
tenth grade students SMA N 1 Klirong. pre test, post test and interview were
employed to collect the data.
As media in teaching narrative text, Film trailer contributed and effective
in improving student’s skill in narrative text. The statistical in One-Sample
Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test, showed that experimental group on mean category:
65,81 and control group 63,50.
Furthermore, the research find out that, there were six positive responses
of the influence film trailer in writing narrative text revealed : writing skill
improvement covering text, organization or idea, vocabularies; increasing students
motivation, creating challenging atmosphere, and inspiring students on writing.
In teaching or learning activity, designing the purpose appropriately which
consider student’s need and language level may ease teachers to application film
trailers in improving student’s writing skill. The teacher may try to take advantage
of film trailer to be utilized in their teaching and learning activities to conduct an
effective and learning atmosphere in the classroom.
