dc.description.abstract Writing is important aspect in learning English, because writing is communication in a text form. The aims of this research are (1) to identify the type of errors made by the eleventh grade students of SMK Batik Perbaik Purworejo in the academic year 2016/2017, (2) to find out the dominant of errors made by the eleventh grade students of SMK Batik Perbaik Purworejo in the academic year 2016/2017.In this research, the researcher uses descriptive qualitative method. To collect the data, the researcher uses written test. In conducting the recount text test, the researcher took 45 minutes. The result of this research showed that (1) the error made by students belong to the most dominant errors, (2) the total number of omission is 122 errors, it is 27.1% , addition is 100 errors, it is 22.2% , substitution is 189 errors, it is 40.7% and permutation is 45 errors, it is 10% . Based on the explanation above the researcher infers that the dominant error made by the students is substitution. It caused the students still confused on the use of simple past tense. en_US
