Abstract:
This study is about analyzing students’ errors in writing recount text. The
classification of errors is based in Keshavarz. The aim of this study is to find out
types of errors and dominant errors in writing a recount text made by the eighth
grade students of SMP N 1 Gombong in the Academic Year of 2016/2017. This
study uses descriptive qualitative as its research design because the researcher
would like to describes what errors made by the students in writing recount text.
The researcher uses written test for students to make a recount text in collecting
the data. The result of this research shows that there are four types of errors
occurred in this research. The most error is omission (89 or 47.8%), the second
place goes to substitution (67 or 36%), the third is permutation (18 or 9.7%), and
the last is addition (12 or 6.5%). The researcher hopes that this thesis will be
useful for English teachers, students, and next researcher.
