Abstract:
This study is aimed at describing the students’ personality traitstoward
students’ English achievement, which focuses on a issue: Is there any possitive
and significant correlation between students’ personality traits and students’
English achievement at second grade students of MA N Gombong in the academic
year of 2016/2017?
This is a quantitative study. Questionnaire and documentation were used
to collect the data. Samples were taken practically by the use of purposive
sampling. The validity of the data was established by the use of Spearman Rank
formula. The data were consisted of questionnaire data and documentation. They
were analyzed by correlation analysis procedure.
Result of the study revealed that the personality traits toward English
achievement were found no significant correlation, it is based on the result of
correlation analysis using Spearman Rank, the coefficient correlation between
students’ personality traits and students’ English achievement is 0,155 and it
belongs to low correlation. The value of coefficient correlation was compared
with r table value. The value of r table for 39 samples in significant level 5% is
2.03. It can be seen that r obtained value (0.155) is lower than 2.03
(0.155<2.03).It means that there is no significant correlation between personality
traits of students and their English achievement.
