This study focused on analyzing phrasal verbs on MAS (Mulia Arifta Swaragaha) Fm radio’s broadcasters. The aims are to find out the phrasal verbs found in MAS Fm’s radio including the kinds of phrasal verbs, and the types of meaning of phrasal verbs in semantic by Leech. This research is also to describe the application in teaching vocabulary at the tenth grade of Senior High School.
This research is descriptive qualitative research. The data is taken from HOT TRAXX programme’s script. It is collected by classifies the phrasal verbs found in the script. After the data collected, the researcher make a list of phrasal verbs found and analyzed them.
Based on the resultsof data analysis shows that the kinds of phrasal verbs on HOT TRAXX script are 35 Intransitive phrasal verb (46.05%), 33 ransitive phrasal verbs where the object after verb and particle (43.42%), 6 transitive phrasal verb where the object between verb and particle (7.89%), and 2 transitive phrasal verb with two object (2.63%). Besides, the types of meaning of phrasal verbs found are 31 Conceptual meaning (40.78%), 17 Thematic meaning (22.36%), 15 Social and Affective meaning (19.73), 9 Reflected and Collocative meaning (11.84%), 4 Connotative meaning (5.26%), and 0 associative meaning. The application of phrasal verbs used in HOT TRAXX’s script is to teach vocabulary at the tenth grade of Senior High School. The researcher suggests the teacher to persuade using MAS Fm radio’s broadcasters in teaching vocabulary because radio as media communication can helps student to learn english phrasal verb. |
