dc.description.abstract It is understood that learning English is difficult for Indonesian students. One of the difficulties faced by the Indonesian students is related to grammar.One of the grammar topics is personal pronoun. This research is aimed to find out and analyze the causes of students’ difficulties in using personal pronoun a case at the tenth grade students of MAN Gombong in the academic year of 2016/2017. The type of this research is descriptive research. The population of this research is the tenth grade students of MAN Gombong in the academic year of 2016/2017 that consists of 183 students. The number of sample in this research is 66 students which were selected by using purposive sampling technique. The researcher uses an interview and questionnaire to collect the data. The interview was used to know the possible causes of students’ difficulties in using personal pronoun . The questionnaire was used to support the data of interview result. The result of the study shows that there are several causes of the students’ difficulties in using personal pronoun. Those are not knowing the meaning, not like English course, never apply the material at home, not pay attention when the teacher gives the material. It supported with the result of questionnaire that student says that the causes of the students’ difficulties in using personal pronouns are not knowing the meaning (90.91%), having no eagerness to master the material (82.83%), and also having negative attitude towards grammar (56.06%), having negative attitude toward teaching and learning process(45.08%), not paying attention to input(43.43%), and the school’ facilities is not good (30.30%). en_US
