dc.description.abstract This research focuses on the analysis of the types of borrowing words in Pathway to English Kelompok Peminatan textbook and the application in teaching vocabulary at the tenth grade of senior high school. This study uses descriptive qualitative research to analyze the data. The source of the data is from Pathway to English Kelompok Peminatan textbook. Total number of the data is 177 data. The researcher identified the types of borrowing words in short stories that found in Pathway to English Kelompok Peminatan textbook. The researcher found 125 data that involved in Loanword (70. 62%), Loan-shift 13 data (7. 34%), Loantranslation 36 data (20. 33%), and the last is Loan blend 3 data (1. 69%). From the result, the researcher concluded that Loanword is the most dominant of borrowing words’ type. The application of borrowing words in Pathway to English Kelompok Peminatan textbook is in teaching vocabulary at the tenth grade of senior high school. The indicator is the students can identify the borrowing words based on its word origin. The researcher suggests the teacher should involve and enrich the knowledge about borrowing words in vocabulary and the students should master the vocabulary to expand their knowledge about borrowing words. en_US
