The objectives of the research is to find out whether or not using Jigsad
Method is effective in teaching reading hortatory exposition text at the eleventh
grade of SMA N 1 Pejagoan in the academic year of 2016/2017.
. The type of the study is an experimental research with pre-test, treatment,
and post-test design. The population of this study is the eleventh grade
studentsofSMA N 1 Pejagoan in the academic year 2016/2017. The researcher
takes 60 students as the sample; they are experimental group and control group.
For the experimental group the researcher uses XI.IS 4 class, which consist of 30
students. Meanwhile, as the control group, the researcher takes 30 students of
XI,IS 2 class, then gave pre-test and post test for both classes. The researcher
taught hortatory exposition text by using jigsaw method in teaching reading to the
experimental group.
The result of t-value is 8.68 based on 0.05 significance level, the t-table
was 2.0211. It shows that the t-value is higher than t-table, which is 8.685>
2.0211. Moreover, the result of mean score of post-test was higher than pre-test
(74.33>58.83). In short, the hypothesis was accepted. It means that by using
Jigsaw method to teach reading hortatory exposition text is effective at the
eleventh grade students of SMA N 1 Pejagoan in the academic year 2016/2017. |
