dc.description.abstract The aim of this research is to describe whether Information-Transfer Activities is effective or not in teaching reading Comprehension at the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 3 Purworejo in the Academic year of 2016/2017. The type of the research is experimental quantitative research with experimental research as the design. The population of the research is 220 Students. The sample is 62 students from X IIS and MIA of SMA Negeri 3 Purworejo in the academic year of 2016/2017. Sample is taken using purposive sampling technique. The independent variable of the research is using information-transfer activities and the dependent variable of the research is the students’ ability in reading comprehension. The techniques of analyzing the data are descriptive statistics, and inferential analysis. The results of the computation are the mean of the students’ ability in reading comprehension in post-test of experimental group is 80.00 and it is categorized as excellent. Meanwhile, the mean of the students’ ability in reading comprehension in post-test of control group is 73.68 and it is categorized as good. The value of the computation of t-test is 5.744 and t-table is 2.000, (5.744>2.000), and the SPSS result showed that Sig (2- tailed) is lower than level of significance 5% (.000<0,05). So, it can be stated that the hypothesis “Using information-transfer activities in teaching reading comprehension text at the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 3 Purworejo in the academic year of 2016/2017 is effective” is accepted. It is important for the students and also teacher to choose the right activities or approach in support their teaching and learning activities especially in reading comprehension. en_US
