Abstract:
The study is about the effectiveness of using web-based media in teaching
reading narrative text at the tenth grade students of SMA N 1 Gombong in the
academic year of 2016/2017. The objective of this research is to describe the
students reading comprehension and to find out whether the use of Web-based
media effective or not, to the students’ reading comprehension. The population of
the research was the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Gombong, Kebumen
in the academic year of 2016/2017. The research methodology was an experiment
research, which has conducted in one class that is X IPA 5 by using web-based
media.
The technique used in analyzing the data has t-test formula. It has used to
determine whether there was a significance difference between the means of pretest
and post-test. The mean score of pre-test is 80.12 with categorized excellent
while the mean score of post-test is 86.42 with categorized excellent. The result of
t-value computation is 2.040. The computation shows that t-value is lower than ttable
is 3.950>2.040. It can be concluded that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted.
So, it can be stated that the hypothesis “ Teaching Reading narrative text
using web-based Media at the tenth grade students of SMA N 1 Gombong in the
academic year of 2016/2017 is accepted”.
