dc.description.abstract The study was carried out to analyze and to clasify the types of errors and finding out the dominant error. The objective of this study is to describe kinds of error made by tenth grade students of SMA N 1 Petanahan in the academic year of 2016/2017 in descriptive text. This thesis uses descriptive qualitative as the research design. The subject of the research is students of X IPS 1 class which consisted of 21 students. The data were collected through written test. In analyzing data, the researcher classifies the students‟ errors based on Surface Taxonomy Strategy into omission, addition, misinformation, and misordering. The result of the study shows that all students make four types of error, even though in different percentage. There are 68 omission (31%), 23 addition (1O.5%), 104 misinformation (47.2%), and 25 misordering (11.3%). It is concluded that the dominant error made by students is misinformation. en_US
