Abstract:
Grammar is something that most important in a language, particularly in
learning English, learning grammar directly will learn about the structure of the
language itself, by mastering grammar people will be easier to learn English.
Subordinating conjunction is one of the part of grammar.
This research are aimed to describe the students ability in mastering
subordinating conjunction of the eleventh grade of SMK Batik Perbaik Purworejo in
the academic year of 2016/20017 and to describe the factors that cause the
achievement of students ability of the eleventh grade of SMK Batik Perbaik
Purworejo in the academic year of 2016/2017 in mastering subordinating conjunction
In collecting the data, the researcher takes some steps. The first making
instruments, consulting to the expert, giving the test to the students, giving
questionnaire to the students, and collecting the students’ answers. The researcher
takes class eleventh grade TKJ SMK Batik Perbaik Purworejo which consists of 32
students as the research subject by using purposive sampling technique. The
researcher used test to measure the students ability in mastering subordinating
conjunction. The researcher also used questionnaire to find out the cause factors
students’ in mastering subordinating conjunction.
The result shows that the highest score of the students’ ability in mastering
subordinating conjunction is 92, and the lowest score is 44. The mean score is 74.75
and it belongs good category. There are students category, 1 student (3.13%)
categorized fairly sufficient, 2 students (6.24%) categorized sufficient, 18 students
categorized good and 11 students categorized excellent. The factors cause the
students ability in mastering subordinating conjunction are attention (64.38%),
environment (46.88%), motivation (45.31%), the students (42.41%), teaching method
(21.88%) and the last is facilities (15.68%).
