Abstract:
This research aimed to know whether the: (1) reading comprehension
ability is not smaller than 75; (2) the achievement of mathematics learning is
smaller than 75; (3) there is positive and significant influence on reading
comprehension ability to ward mathematics learning achievement. This research
before was the ex-post facto research as independent variables in this research
had happened.
The population in this research were all students of Seventh Grade Junior
High School States in the district of Kebumen as many as 735 people with 238
people as the sample. The sample was taken with proportional random sampling
technique. Data collection techniques used the testing technique. Data were
analyzed using one sample t-test, product moment correlation, t-test, the
determination of coefficient, and simple regression analysis. As pre-requisite
tests, this research used normality test, homogeneity test, significance test, and
linearity test.
The results showed that: (1) the average value of reading comprehension
ability was smaller than 75 with 𝑡𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑡 = β33,86; (2) the average value of
mathematics learning achievement was smaller than 75 with 𝑡𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑡 = β33,70; (3)
there was a positive and significant impact on reading comprehension ability to
ward mathematics learning achivement where rxy = 0,59 and 𝑡𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑡 = 11,12 with
a determination equal to 34,40%. This shows that the higher reading
comprehension, the higher also mathematics achievement.
