Abstract:
English as an international language is used for communication in most
activities and even in the world. In Indonesia, English is taught to the students of
elementary, junior, senior high school, and even to university students as one of
their subject.The research is conducted to find how effective of using English
Authentic video in teaching English vocabulary to the second grade students of
junior hight school.
This research was carried out at SMP N 4 Kertek in three days on May
2015. The population of the study is second grade students. As the sample, the
writer used 30 students of population. The writer used the purposive sampling
technique to make sample. To collect the data, the writer used test as the
instrument. There were pretest and post-test. Pre-test was conducted before the
writer gave treatment to the students. The type of test was easy test. And to
analysis the data, the writer used t-test formula.
The result of data computation indicates that t-score is 3,314. It means that
tscore of this study is higher than the t-value on the t-table. The t-value on the ttable
is 2,00. It means that the hypothesis is accepted.Using English Authentic
video is effective for teaching English vocabulary to the second grade students of
elementary school. The writer hopes that result can be involved in education field.
English teacher should pay-attention to the media and improve the media to
stimulate the students in the reaching-learning process.
