Abstract:
The objective of the study is to describe whether the use of MiniLyrics as
media is effective or not in teaching pronunciation at the eleventh grade students
of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Kebumen in the academic year of 2015/2016.
The type of the research is experimental research that is done by
quantitative technique in processing data. The population of this research is the
eleventh grade students of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Kebumen in the academic
year of 2015/2016. The subjects of this study consists of 50 students which are
divided into experimental group (class XI MIA 1, 25 students) and control group
(class XI MIA 2, 25 students). Dealing with the research instrument of collecting
the data, the researcher made some steps: (1) giving pre-test both of the groups (2)
giving treatment to the experimental group (3) giving post-test both of the groups.
To analyze the data, the researcher uses t-test.
The result shows that the use of MiniLyrics is effective in teaching
pronunciation. The researcher counted the data using t-test method, the mean
score were found that the post test of experimental group has mean score 71.40.
Moreover, the mean score of post test of control group was 65.40. The researcher
concluded that the students of experimental group have well on their
pronunciation. The computation of t-test shows that the Ha is accepted. It can be
proven by the value of t-test is 3.118. Then the t-table is 2.000. 3.118 > 2.000. If
the value of t-test is higher than t-table, the alternative hypothesis can be stated
that is effective to use MiniLyrics in teaching pronunciation at the eleventh grade
students of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Kebumen in the academic year of
2015/2016.
