Abstract:
The objective of the study is to find out whether or not there is a correlation
between students’ reading comprehension and their sriting skill. The population of
this study is the fourth semester students of Purworejo Muhammadiyah University
in the academic year of 2015/2016. The sampling process was administered by
applying a random sampling technique. There were 126 students of the fourth
semester students of Purworejo Muhammdiyah University in the academic year of
2015/2016 and the writer took 95 students as the sample. To collect the data, the writer
used document. The document of students’ reading comprehension score and the
students’ writing score.
The result of this research showed that there is a significant correlation between
students’ reading comprehension and their writing skill. The result of the correlation is
0.413 and it was categorized as a medium sorrelation. significant level 5% the value
of rtable of product moment is 1.986. The computation show that tvalue is higher than
ttable that is 4.383>1.986. The coefficient is positive and significant. It means if the
students are better in reading comprehension, they are better in writing skill
