Abstract:
The objectives of this study are (1) to describe speaking ability at seventh grade students of SMP N 33 Purworejo (2) to find out whether using music video clip is an effective or not for teaching speaking at the seventh grade students’ of SMP N 33 Purworejo.
The researcher used music video clip in the experimental group. This research is designed as descriptive quantitative. The researcher used the purposive sampling to take the sample of the research. The number of sample is 64 students that are taken from two classes they were experimental group and control group. For the experimental group the researcher used class VII B which consists of 32 students. The researcher used class VII D which consists of 32 students.
The result shows that the use of Music Video Clip is effective for teaching speaking descriptive text. The researcher counted the data using t-test method. The mean score were found that the post test of experimental group has 73.38. Moreover, the mean score of control group was 69.25. In a fact, t-test result of post-test of experimental and control group t-test based on the computation of SPSS show that t-value > t-table (2.848>2.000). So, the use of Music Video Clip is effective for Teaching Speaking Descriptive text at the Seventh Grade Students of SMP Negeri 33 Purworejo in the academic year of 2015/2016.
