The aim of this study is to find out whether or not of using numbered
head together method is effective in teaching reading comprehension at eight
grade of SMP N 2 Nusawungu in academic year of 2015/2016.
The type of the research is quantitative research. The population of the
research is the eighth grade students of SMP N 2 Nusawungu in the academic year
of 2015/2016. The sample is 66 students. Sample is taken using purposive
sampling technique.
In collecting the data, the researcher made instrument, consulted it to the
expert, and dividing class VIIIC as a control and class VIIIA as a experimental.
The writer used pre-test and post-test. Before conducting post-test, the researcher
gave treatment for experimental group using Numbered Head Together method
and common way for control group. After getting the data, the researcher analized
the data using t-test separated variance.
The result shows that the mean score of post-test of experimental group is
higher than the mean score of post test of control group (82.27>72.42). in
addition, the result of t-value is 5.324. Then the researcher consults the critical
value on the t-table using 5% (0.05) alpha level significance and the degree of
freedom is 2.036. It shows that t-value is higher that t-table (5.324>2.036). It
means that using numbered head together method in teaching reading narrative
text at the eighth grade of SMPN 2 Nusawungu in the academic year of
2015/2016 is effective. |
