To get success in teaching learning process the students need motivation
because motivation plays an important role in learning English process. The
student’s motivation has great influences in learning English process because it
has a great influence to the attitude in English lesson. In other word, the student’s
success or failure in learning subject (English) can be identified through the
student’s motivation in learning subject.
The objectives of the research are to describe the student’s motivation, to
describe the student’s reading comprehension ability, and describe there is
positive and significant correlation between students’ motivation in reading
English towards their reading comprehension ability at the eleventh grade of SMA
N I Wadaslintang in the academic year of 2015/2016. The research population in
this research is the eleventh grade of SMA N I Wadaslintang. The researcher uses
descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. There were 27 samples. In collecting
the data, the researcher uses two kinds of technique are applied. To get the data on
student’s motivation, the researcher will use Questionnaire. Meanwhile, in order
to get the data on the student achievement, the researcher used reading
comprehension test.
The level of the students’ motivation in speaking English of eleventh
grade of SMA N I Wadaslintang in the academic year of 2015/2016is in high
category as a mean score is 71.81. While the level of student’s reading
comprehension ability is in high category as a mean score 77.51, and the
correlation result is in high category there is 0.649. It means that there is
correlation between the student’s motivation and the student’s reading
comprehension ability. |
