Abstract:
Language as a means of communication is very necessary to be mastered.
Speaking is one of the skills that is very important. Speaking as oral skill is very
important for people especiallyfor language learners. Teacher has to find the best
teaching model for her students.
In this research, the researcher used pre-experimental design using onegroup
pretest-posttest design. The research population are the eleventh grade
students of SMAN 8 of Purworejo in the academic year of 2015/2016. From 210
students, the researcher takes 31 students as the sample. In this research, the
researcher used pre-testand post-test to get the data. From the research finding, the
mean of the pre-test scores is 60.84 and the mean of the post-test is 70.35. The
value of z-test is -4.859 > -1.960. Based on the result, it means that the hypothesis
is accepted.
To overcome, the teacher should use interesting method to teach English,
especially speaking, in which designed to make students become more active and
interested in speaking through inquiry and discussion. For the students should
study hard to get more good English achievement, the students should have
motivation and also think that English is interesting by able to speak fluently.
