Abstract:
This study aims to: (1) determine the satisfaction of eighth grade students on the
English learning service at SMP Negeri 4 Kebumen in the academic year of 2015/2016;
(2) determine the results of English learning achievement of eighth grade students of
SMP Negeri 4 Kebumen in the academic year of 2015/2016; (3) prove whether there is
significant influence of satisfaction in English learning service towards English learning
achievement of eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Kebumen in the academic year of
2015/2016.
This research is an ex post facto survey with descriptive correlational design. The
respondents are 50 of eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Kebumen in the academic
year of 2015/2016 which was taken by using proportionate random sampling. The
technique of collecting students’ satisfaction on learning English data is by
questionnaires, while data of students’ English learning achievement is by using
documentation techniques taken from final examination at the second semester in the
academic year of 2015/2016. Analysis of data is used correlation analysis and simple
linear regression, which previously had been carried out an analysis prerequisite test in
the form of data normality test.
The study shows: (1) the satisfaction of eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 4
Kebumen to 20 service items of English learning including the category simply acquire
mean of 68.54 (68.54% of the maximum value of 100), but there are 5 items of English
learning services which are not satisfying the majority of students, ie items 1, 2, 3, 13,
and 14; (2) the eighth grade students’ English learning achievement at SMP Negeri 4
Kebumen is still not satisfying, the average of it is under the minimum completeness
criteria / KKM (<75) with the mean acquisition of 74.02, with 19 students’ (38%) is
under the KKM; (3) the satisfaction on service learning has significant effect on eighth
grade students’ English learning achievement at SMP Negeri 4 Kebumen, with
significance value of 0.00.
