dc.description.abstract In this research, there are three questions to be answered, they are: (1) how is students' mastery of action verbs (2) how is students‟ writing ability in procedure text and (3) is there any positive and significant correlation between students' mastery of action verbs and writing ability in procedure text at the eleventh grade of SMK Batik Perbaik Purworejo in the academic year of 2015/2016. The population of this research was the eleventh grade of SMK Batik Perbaik Purworejo in the academic year of 2015/2016 which consists of 199 students. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. The researcher took 32 students as the sample. The instruments were test which consists of two kinds of tests, namely action verbs test (multiple choice) and writing test (essay). The researcher used product moment formula to analyze the data. The result showed that: (1) the mean of the students' mastery of action verbs is 75.63 (good category) (2) the mean of students‟ writing ability in procedure text is 78.56 (good category) and (3) there is positive and significant correlation between students' mastery of action verbs and their writing ability in procedure text. The result of the correlation product moment is 0.934 and it is categorized as a high (significance level 5%) and r-table is 0.349, r-value is higher than r-table (0.934>0.349). It means if the students are better in action verbs mastery, they are better in writing ability. Overall, teacher should make students master in action verbs and make writing as habitual activity. en_US
