The objective of this research is to find out whether or not giving reward
and punishment gives positive and significant influence to the students’ English
learning achievement at the eighth grade students of SMP N 6 Purworejo in the
academic year of 2015/2016.
The researcher took 32 students as the sample from 191 students as her
sample. To get the data, the researcher uses questionnaire to gain information
about giving reward and punishment and documentation to know the result of
students’ English learning achievement. The documentation is taken from the
score of the first semester.
Based on the computation by SPSS 16.00, it is found that the means of the
students’ English learning achievement is 76.66 and it belongs to good category.
Meanwhile, the result of correlation is 0.892 and it is categorized as very high
correlation based on Sugiyono (2007:231). However, R square is 0.795, which
means that giving reward and punishment, it gives positive and significant
influence on students’ English learning achievement 79.5% and the residue
(20.5%) is influenced by other factor. Then, the Sig is 0.00, it is less than 0.05
which means that the alternative hypothesis is accepted or it can be interpreted
that giving reward and punishment, gives positive and significant influence
toward students’ English learning achievement. |
