Abstract:
The purpose of the study are to find out the erors made by the students
and to know the dominant of the errors made by class XI IPA I SMA Pancasila
Purworejo in using to be in interrogative sentences.
The researcher gets the data by using test. The test consists 15 items. The
researcher takes 21 students as sample from the total population. The population is
class X IPA I SMA Pancasila Purworejo.
Kind of research is description research, action research and experimental
research. Method to analyze is the researcher analyzes error of to be and question
words in interrogative sentences. To collect the data the researcher uses a test as
the first step. The researcher comes to the class to give the test to the students.
Before gving the test, the researcher explains a little bit material about to be and
question words to review the previous material.
The result of the study is that the errors which are made by the students are
omission 43 Q4.84o/o), addition 19 (10.98%), misformation 58 (33.52Yo), and
misordering 53 (30.63%). The dominant of error is misformation 58 Q3.52yo).
The average of the score is 45. Based on his result, he concludes that the students
mastery ofmaking interrogative sentences is poor.
