Abstract:
The researcher will find out the effectiveness of using Scramble Method in
teaching writing procedure text. The researcher has question to be answered. Is
using Scramble Method effective in teaching writing procedure text at the seventh
grade of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Purworejo in the academic year of 2015/2016?
The type of the research is quantitative research. The population of the
research is the seventh grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Purworejo in the
academic year of 2015/2016. The sample is 30 students. Sample is taken using
systematic sampling technique. The instrument that is used to get the data are
spoken and written test. The techniques of analyzing the data are descriptive
statistics in finding mean, standard deviation, mode, median; and inferential
analysis is used to prove the hypothesis test.
The results of the computation are the mean of the students’ writing
procedure text skill in pre-test is 65,87 and the mean of the students’ writing
procedure text skill in post-test is 74,53. The interpretation of that numbers says
that if tvalue is higher than ttable, it mean that Ho is accepted and Ha is rejected. The
result of t-test show that tvalue is -12.493 and ttable is -1.993. It means that Ho
rejected and Ha accepted or in other words, using scramble method was effective
in teaching writing procedure text at the seventh grade students of SMP
Muhammadiyah 1 Purworejo in the academic year 2015/2016.
