dc.description.abstract The objective of the research is to find out whether the learners’ English achievement depends on the students’ self-esteem profile at the tenth grade students of MAN Purworejo and to describe the infuence of self-esteem profile toward the learners’ English achievement at the tenth grade students of MAN Purworejo in the academic year of 2015/2016. The type of this research is a descriptive quantitative research. The researcher takes 60 students among the population 287 students in the tenth grade students of MAN Purworejo as the samples of this research. The instrument used in the research are questionnaire and documentation. The researcher uses questionnaire to collect the data of self-esteem profile and documentation which is taken from the students’ final score in the second semester in the academic year of 2015/2016 to collect the data of the learners English achievement. Then, the researcher calculates both manually using SPSS 16.00. Based on the computation, the researcher finds that: (1) the mean score of the learners English achievement is 58.27 and it is categorized as fair. (2) There is no positive and significant influence between the learners’ self esteem toward English learning achievement, the test score is 0.035. The result shows above can be proven from the number of samples (n=60) on the level of significance 5%, the result of the computation both done manually by SPSS is 0.035. Based on the value in the table of r product moment that is 0.035<0.254 it is categorized as a very low correlation. The coefficient determination is 0.0016. There is a very low influence of self-esteem profile toward English learning achievement. The influence of the students’ self esteem is 0.16%. The residu is 99.84% influence by other factors. en_US
