Abstract:
This thesis is a qualitative research. The aim of this thesis is to find out
the types of errors in students’ recount text at the tenth grade of SMA N 5
Purworejo in the academic year of 2015/ 2016. It is hoped that by knowing the
students’ errors, teaching learning process becomes better and the way how the
teacher teaches becomes more effective.
In collecting the data, the researcher uses test as an instrument. The test is
a written test about a great experience. The researcher collected the data from 30
students as a subject of this research. The data was collected on April, 26th 2016.
While, in analyzing the data, the researcher classifies the students’ errors. There
are 4 types errors found: omission, addition, substitution, and permutation. The
last that the researcher does in analyzing the data is drawing conclusion and
suggestion.
The result of this thesis shows that almost all students make four error
types. There are 61 omission (25 %), errors of addition are 66 (27.05 %), errors of
substitution are 108 (44.26 %), and errors of permutation are 9 (3.69 %). The
dominant errors made by the students is substitution, while permutation is the
lowest one made by the students.
