Abstract:
entitled “All The Way Home” by Patricia Reilly Giff. Expression of
Opinion is expression used to asking and giving someone’s opinion.This study
was carried out for several objectives, those are : (1) To find out kinds of
expression of opinion in the novel entitled “ALL THE WAY HOME” by Patricia
Reilly Giff, (2) To identify the function from each of expression of opinion, (3)
To describe the application to teach expression of opinion in speaking class by
using novel entitled “ALL THE WAY HOME” by Patricia Reilly Giff.
This research is a descriptive qualitative research because this research is
not use any calculation or numbering and the data produced are in the words form.
The primary data collection is carried out through a document. A document here
means the novel entitled “ALL THE WAY HOME” by Patricia Reilly Giff. and it
is supported by using many sources including books and internet. In analysing
data, first the researcher read the novel, second the researcher collects the data
about expression of opinion in novel, third analyses the data.
From the analysis in novel entitled ““ALL THE WAY HOME” by Patricia
Reilly Giff, the researcher finds expression asking and giving opinion. There are
14 (42.42%) expression of asking opinion and there are 20 (58.82%) expression of
giving opinion. And the researcher also searches the function from each
expresions. The application novel entitled “All The Way Home” by Patricia
Reilly Giff in speaking class is as a tool for the students to study about expression
of opinion.
