Warming-up is a kind of activity that can be used in class to support our
students' learning and motivation. Warming up activities can foster motivation
and this is, in turn, an essential component when planning warming up activities.
Teachers need to try and actively generate positive students' attitudes toward
learning. The objective of the study is to find out the the warming-up activities on
the student’ learning in mental retardation class (Tuna Grahita) at SLB-C Karya
Bhakti; to find out the teaching components to support the successful teachinglearning
English process for special students at mental retardation class (Tuna
Grahita) at SLB-C Karya Bhakti.
This study is concerned about the influence of warming-up activity on the
students’ learning achievement. The activity was conducted at Karya Bhakti
special school of Purworejo especially teaching-learning English activity in 7th
grade of mental retardation students. The researcher uses three methods in her
study including observation, in depth interview, and documentations. The data
uses pure descriptive qualitative method.
From the result of this study, the researcher has found the role of warmingup
activity is one of being an attention injector for students. In doing so, we can
prepare students to concentrate and to help them begin to think and focus their
attention on the English class. When the student focus and give their attention, it
will give an influence to their achievement because they will understand the
material given easily. In addition there are supporting component in teachinglearning
English process for special students. It consists of strategy, method, and
teaching media to support the successful of teaching-learning English for special
students. The researcher also suggests the teacher to be adaptive in their
perspective in teaching-learning English to make the optimal result on their
teaching English process. |
