Abstract:
Song can have a great impact on people's feeling and emotions. When
someone listening to the song they like, he or she will imitate the lyric which they listen
to. The aim of this research is to find out whether there is an effectiveness of the use of
English song on the students’ pronunciation mastery or not to the tenth grade students
of SMK Taman Karya Madya Pertambangan Kebumen in the academic year
2013/2014.
This research is classified as an experimental research. Moreover, this
research is conducted by using quantitative technique in processing the data and getting
the result. Therefore, the type of this research is experimental quantitative research. In
this research,the population is 400 the researcher took 76 students which are divided
into control (X Ototronik 1, 38 students) and experimental group (X Ototronik 2, 38
students) at the tenth grade of SMK Taman Karya Madya Pertambangan Kebumen in
the academic year of 2013/2014 as the sample. The researcher conducted pre-test,
treatment and post-test. The researcher used English song as a media to teach
pronunciation. Statistically, the researcher analyzed the data by using t-test.
The result of this research shows that English song is effective to improve
students’ pronunciation mastery for the tenth grade students of SMK Taman Karya
Pertambangan Kebumen in the academic year of 2013/2014, since it was found that the
result of t-value is 5.26, based on 0.05 significance level , and the value of t-table is
1.99. Therefore, the computation shows that t-value is higher than t-table that is
5.261>1.99.
