dc.description.abstract The main objective of the thesis is to find out what types of speaking errors do most the students. Besides, this thesis also aimed to find out what are the possible causes of the speaking errors are made by the students. This research is design as descriptive qualitative research. In this study the researcher focused on the second semester students at English Education Program of Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo in the academic year of 2013/2014. There are 39 students as the subject of the research. The process of data collection in this research had to be put in two activities, those are: observation and document analysis. The results of this research showed that Omission is 50,8%, overgeneralization is 0%, misinformation is 39%, misordering is 10,2%. The most error made by the Second Semester Students at English Education Program of Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo in the Academic Year of 2013/2014 is omission. Whereas, the causes of error done by the students are as follows: Interlingual Transfer is 33,3%, Intralingual Transfer is 28,6%, Context of Learning is 14,3%, and Communication Strategy is 23,8%. Finally, the most causes of error made by the Students is Interlingual Transfer. The students had to improve their vocabulary, pronounciation, grammar, worthwhile knowledge, and keep on speaking English. en_US
