Abstract:
Writing is a process of discovering and shaping meaning. Writing is a way
of remembering because it makes word permanent and writing also is a good way
to communicate because in writing, the writer really thinks of what he or she
wants to be communicated by writing it. In teaching and learning English
especially writing ability students can use many kinds of media applied by
teacher. One of the media that can be used is scientific animation video.
In this research, the researcher would find out the effectiveness of using
scientific animation video in teaching writing explanation text. Here, the
researcher had one question to be answered : Is the use of using scientific
animation video is effective for teaching writing explanation text when applied at
the tenth grade of MAN 1 Kutowinangun in the academic year 2015/2016? The
object of the research is the students writing ability at the grade students of MAN
1 Kutowinagun in the academic year 2015/2016. The researcher took 63 students
among 257 students as sample of the research.
The researcher uses test as the instrument to collect data. Then, the
researcher calculates in order to answer the statement of the problem. The result
of the computations as follow: 1) the mean of the students in post-test of the
experimental group is 73,28 and it is in the category of good and the mean of the
students in post-test of control group is 62,23 and it is category as sufficient. 2)
the value of computation t-test is 1,23. It means that there is a positive and
significant improvement on students’ writing skill by using scientific animation
video at the tenth grade of MAN 1 Kutowinagun in the academic year 2015/2016.
From the computation showed that the t-value is higher than t-table is 8.20
> 2.040. It means that it is effective of using scientific animation video in teaching
writing explanation text at the tenth grade of MAN 1 Kutowinagun in the
academic year 2015/2106.
