dc.description.abstract Vocabulary is one of the language aspects which should be learnt. Learning vocabulary is important because we are able to speak, write, and listen nicely if we know vocabulary first. A person said to ‘know‘ a word if they can recognize its meaning when they see it frontloading provides rich dialogue and experiences that allow students to develop vocabulary by accessing their prior knowledge before reading content. When students have the opportunity to use their prior knowledge, they exhibit an increase in vocabulary and content knowledge. In addition, students show their understanding as they interact with difficult content material. The objective of this research is to find out whether the application of frontloading strategy is effective to increase vocabulary mastery of the seventh grade students of SMP N 25 Purworejo in academic year 2013/2014. The research belongs to pre experimental research design. The participants of the research are the seventh grade students of SMP N 25 Purworejo in academic year 2013/2014.The researcher takes two classes as her sample. One class is experimental group consists of 32 students and one class as control group consist of 32 students. So, the total the participant is 64 students. The research uses test as the instrument. The data in her research are mainly gathered through pre-test and post-test. After the data collected, the researcher calculated uses t-test polled variance to calculate and to test hypothesis proposal. Seeing from the finding of the research, it shows that there is a difference achievement got by the students in experimental group and in control. In post-test the mean score of experimental group is 81,40 and the mean of control group is 70,46. It can be seen that the mean of experimental group was higher than control group in post-test. It shows that t-table is 1.999 and t-value is 6.849. It means that t-value was higher than t-table that is 6.849 > 1.999. So, it can be concluded the use frontloading strategy to increase vocabulary mastery of the seventh grade students of SMP N 25 Purworejo in academic year 2013/2024 is effective. en_US
