dc.description.abstract |
This research aims to: (1) find out the types of maxims used in dialogues
in junior high school textbook entitled Bahasa Inggris “When English Rings a
Bell”year VIII and (2) describe the application of dialogues in textbook entitled
Bahasa Inggris “When English Rings a Bell” Year VIII to teach speaking at the
eighth grade students of junior high school.
The researcher uses descriptive qualitative research in conducting this
research. The researcher analyses about the types of maxims in dialogues found in
Bahasa Inggris “When English Rings a Bell”Year VIIIand the application of
dialogues in textbook entitled Bahasa Inggris “When English Rings a Bell” Year
VIIIto teach speaking at the eighth grade students of junior high school.
Based on the analysis of this research, the types of maxims are used in
dialogues in junior high school textbook entitled Bahasa Inggris “When English
Rings a Bell”Year VIII are all of the maxims. There are 106 conversations.
However, the researcher divides it into 144 dialogues. There are 79 dialogues
(54.86%) containing maxim of quantity, 19 dialogues (13.19%) containing maxim
of quality, 31 dialogues (21.52%) containing maxim of relevance, and 15
dialogues (10.41%) containing maxim of manner. The application of dialogues in
textbook entitled Bahasa Inggris “When English Rings a Bell”Year VIII to teach
speaking at the eighth grade students of junior high school. The researcher teaches
about asking/ giving opinion and its responses. Dialogues can encourage students
to speak more than usual. It is because every student has different opinion. |
