the language components are vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation.Teaching
vocabulary can use many kinds of strategy applied by teacher. One of the teaching
strategy can be used in teaching vocabulary is Group to Group Exchange (GGE)
strategy.
The objective of this research is to describe whether Group to Group
Exchange strategy is effective or not in teaching vocabulary .The researcher took
32 students as the sample. Then, the researcher gave pre-test and post-test. The
researcher taught vocabulary by using GGE strategy at the eighth grade of SMP
Negeri 2 Ayah in the academic year 2015/2016. The researcher then analyze the
data by using t-test.
The result of the research shows that the mean score of pre-test is 65.
Meanwhile, the mean score of post-test is 77.13. To see whether the hypothesis is
accepted or rejected, t-value is consulted to t-table at the 0.05 significance level. It
shows that t-table was -2.04 and t-value was -13.39. It means that t-value was
lower than t-table, that was -13.39 > -2.04. Therefore, it can be stated that the
hypothesis “ Group to Group Exchange strategy is effective in teaching
vocabulary at the eighth grade of SMP Negeri 2 Ayah in the academic year of
2015/2016” is accepted. |
