dc.description.abstract English Language is international language in this world. Many countries used and learned the language. Language works in some parts of our life. One of them is in literature. Song lyric is one of the examples of literature. Song lyric is meaningful. The writer can express the feels in the lyric. It cannot be taken literally. It means that the writer uses figurative language. Figurative language is language using figures of speech, so we cannot take it literally. This study investigates the use of figurative language in Scorpions Song lyrics. This study used descriptive qualitative because the researcher would like to describe about the types of figurative language found in the Scorpions song lyrics. In this research, the researcher takes the data from Scorpions song lyrics. The researcher chooses five songs with the theme is love. The researcher used documentation method to collect the data. He did the steps such as reading, indicating, signing, collecting data and coding the data. The result of this study shows that there are six types of figurative language on Scorpions song lyrics. There are 23 Hyperbole, 8 personification and apostrophe, 2 simile, 1 paradox and 1 understatement. Hyperbole is the most dominant figurative language. It is the highest number in percentage of 53.48 %, after that is followed by personification and apostrophe with 18.6%, simile 4.65%, paradox and understatement have same percentage 2.3%. en_US
