Abstract:
The objective of this study is tofind out whether Draw Label Caption
(DLC) is effective or not in teaching writing of descriptive text at the tenth grade
students of SMK Batik Sakti 2 Kebumen in the academic year of 2015/2016.
The population of this study is the tenth grade students ofSMK Batik Sakti
2 Kebumen in the academic year of 2015/2016 which consists of seven classes.
Total number of the students is 214. Therefore, the population is 214 students.The
researcher uses 69 students as the sample of the research students are divided into
2 groups, those are experimental and control.The first group is the experimental
group (A) which consists of 33 students, and the second one is the control group
(B) which consists of 36 students.The data collection was carried on from April,
11thApril to 23rd May 2016 with the cooperation of the principal and English
teacher of SMK Batik Sakti 2 Kebumen.
The research resullt shows that teaching writing using draw label caption
is effective. The mean of experimental group is 76.45 whereas the mean of control
group is 67.80 (76.45>67.80). Furthermore, based on the hypothesis testing, the
result of t-value is 78.6, using 5% level significance and the degree of freedom is
52. From the t-table, the value of ttable is 0.05. It shows that t value is higher than
the value of t-table. Therefore, using Draw Label Caption technique in teaching
writing of descriptive text at the tenth grade students of SMK Batik Sakti 2
Kebumen iseffective.
