dc.description.abstract This research aimed to found the students vocabulary mastery the effectiveness of using WordZap Games to Increase Vocabulary Mastery at the Seventh Grade Students of SMP N 1 Prembun in the Academic Year of 2013/2014. This research is called experimental research. The population of this research is the seventh grade students of SMP N 1 Prembun in the Academic Year of 2013/2014. The researcher tooks two classes, VII F consist of 30 students as the control group and VII D consist of 32 students as the experimental group. The sampling technique which used was purposive sampling. The instrument used to collect the data was a test. The form of the test was divided into two part. Those are pre-test and post-test, and to analyze the data, the researcher used t-test formula. The result of this research shows that the mean WordZap game was effective to improve vocabulary mastery .The result compared to the value of t-table 2.849>2.001. Then, the computation of t-test shows that the Ha was accepted. The differences of highest score between pre-test and post-test in experimental group was 85 and 95, and lowest score in experimental group betwen pre test and post test was 35 and 70. The differences of highest score betwen pre test and post test in control group was 85 and 90. Then, the differences of lowest score between pre-test and post-test was 45 and 65. After the test, the mean score betwen pre test and post test in experimental group was 57 and 80. From the previous analysis, it shows that with the number of samples (n1=30 and n2=30) and the level of significance is 5%, the result of the computation of t-value is 2.690. Based on the value on the table for df 58 and the level of significance is 5%, the value of t-invers is 2.001. The result of this research shows that the mean of control group is 76. and experimental group is 80. The means of control group was included in interval 60-69. It means that students of control group have sufficient result on their vocabulary mastery. The means of control group was included in interval 70-79. It means that the students have good result on their vocabulary mastery. The F value is lower than F table, which is 1.26 < 1.82. It means the variance of two groups was homogenous. Chi Square value on the significant level 0.05 was 11.070. Chi Square from two groups obtained was lower value than Chi Square table. The result of t-value is 2.070. Based on the 0.05 significance level, the value of t-table is 2.000, the computation shows that t-value is higher than t-table, which is 2.207>2.000. So, the result of this research shows that documentary film is effective to improve students’ vocabulary mastery. Moreover, documentary film gives a positive contribution toward the students’ vocabulary mastery. By using documentary film, the students are not bored in learning English. en_US
