dc.description.abstract Language is an effective tool of communication which fulfils the basic human needs communicate with other. It is constantly used by human in their everyday life and has an important role in their lives. When human express their communication there is use speech act which is consist command expression. The use of command expression is need understanding the patterns of the expressions itself. This study investigates the use of command expressions in film entitled “Battleship”. The objectives of this study are to find out not only the types and the most dominant command expressions used in film entitled “Battleship”, but also applying command expressions in teaching speaking. This research is a descriptive qualitative research because it is aimed toanalyze the command expression especially formal direct command, formal indirect command, informal direct command, and informal indirect command and the form of data is in theword form rather than number. This research is an analysis concerning with command expression used in the language teachingactivity of language teaching class of Senior High School. After analyzing the data, the researcher concludes that there are several types command expressions can be found in film entitled “Battleship”.There areformal direct command 88 times with percentages 68.25%, formal indirect 4 times with percentage 3%, informal direct thirty 6 times with percentage 28%, and informal indirect command expression once with percentage 0.75%. So, there are four command expressions that are found in film entitled “Battleship”. The command expression that is most found is formal direct command 88 times with percentages 68.25%. The researcher hopes that this thesis will enrich the knowledge ofpragmatics, especially illocutionary and perlocutionary acts for the teachers andstudents who should be able to understand and use illocutionary andperlocutionary acts appropriately in teaching-learning speaking activity en_US
