dc.description.abstract The purpose of this research is to find out whether there is a significant difference between the reading comprehension of the first grade students of SMA N 7 Purworejo in The Academic Year 2013/2014 taught through Jigsaw technique and those without through Jigsaw technique. This research is an experimental research with a control group. The population used by the researcher is the first grade students of SMA N 7 Purworejo in The Academic Year 2013/2014. The researcher got two classes as sample of the research. The technique of sampling in this research is cluster random sampling. There are two classes are chosen, they are X IPS 2 as the control group and X IPS 3 as the experiment group. They are 50 students. The researcher used a test as instrument of the research. Based on the result of data analysis, The mean of score pre-test experimental group is 78,72 and the mean of score post-test is 83,40 its increasing of score is 4,68 While the mean of score pre-test control group is 82,72 and the mean of score post-test is 86,20 its increasing of score is 3,48. So, we could conclude that using Jigsaw Technique for teaching reading comprehension was more effectivethan using convensional method on the English achievement. en_US
