Abstract:
English is the most important International Language because it has a role
as a mediator language among countries in the world. The usage of English has
spread in almost all aspect of life, from trade, government, science, and
technology, also the education. In Indonesia, English has been the first foreign
language taught since in the elementary level. By mastering English, hopefully,
the young generation can complete in the globalization era.
In this research, the researcher wants to find out the improving the students’
writing ability using Perception of Object School Environment method. Here, the
researcher has question to be answered. That is, does the Perception of Object
School Environment method improve the students’ ability of writing descriptive
text at the seventh grade students of SMP N 22 Purworejo academic year
2013/3014? The object of the research is the seventh grade students of SMP N 22
Purworejo academic year 2013/3014. The researcher took a class to be sample.
There are 32 students of the seventh grade of SMP N 22 Purworejo.
The researcher used tests as the instrument to get the data. The first is by
using pre-test (before giving treatment), and the second is by using post test (after
giving treatment by using Perception of Object School Environment method). The
researcher conducted pre-test on November 18, 2013. Then she gave treatment
and post test on November 2, 2013. After calculating the score, the writer got the
result. Then, the researcher did calculation in order to answer the statements of the
problem. The results of the computation are as follows: 1) The mean score or pretest
is 56 and the mean score of post test is 70. It means that the mean score after
giving treatment by using Perception of Object School Environment method in
post test is better than the mean score before giving treatment. 2) It could be seen
from the final result of t-test analysis which stated that the t-value was higher than
the t-table (3.17 > 2.039). It means that there is significant influence on the
students’ writing ability in writing descriptive text before using Perception of
Object School Environment method and after using Perception of Object School
Environment method at the seventh grade students of SMP N 22 Purworejo
academic year 2013/3014.
