dc.description.abstract The objective of this study aims to find out whether or not there is a positive and significant correlation between the students’ motivation and students’ English achievement at the seventh grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Kebumen in the academic year of 2015/2016. The method of this study is quantitative method. The type of this research is descriptive quantitative research. The data collecting was conducted on 27th April. The population is the seventh grade of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Kebumen in the academic year of 2015/2016 which consists of 134 students. The sample of this research is 40 students by applying random sampling to collect the sample. The technique of collecting data uses the questionnaire of students’ motivation and the documentation of English students’ achievement by the teacher. The data is analyzed by using descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. The results of this research are: The r-obtained (0.505) is higher than r-table (0.312) in the significant level of 0.05. Therefore the hypothesis alternative (Ha) is accepted. So that the researcher concludes that there is a positive and significant correlation between students’ motivation and students’ English achievement at the seventh grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Kebumen in the academic year of 2015/2016. en_US
