Abstract:
The objective of this study is to find out whether Seating Arrangements
influence or not on English students’ achievement for Eighth grades of SMPN 6
Purworejo in the academic year of 2015/2016.
The type of this research is descriptive quantitative research. The
population is the eighth grade of SMP N 6 Purworejo in the academic year
2015/2016 which consists of 191 students. The sample of this research is 54
students by applying purposive sampling to collect the sample. The technique of
collecting data used the questionnaire of seating arrangement and the
documentation of English students’ achievement by the teacher. The data is
analyzed by using descriptive analysis and inferential analysis.
The results of this research are: The mean of students’ seating arrangement
questionnaire score is 62.66. The mean of English students’ achievement is 72.40
classified into good category. r-value (0.776) is higher than r table (0.266) in the
significant level of 0.05. It means that there is positive and significance influence
of seating arrangement on English students’ achievement. Based on the regression
test, it has known that coefficient of determination (R) is 0.603; it means that
English students’ achievement 60.3% affected by their seating arrangement.
