Abstract:
The aim of this research is to find out the effectiveness of using animation video
in teaching vocabulary at the tenth grade students of SMK Ma‟arif 1 Kebumen in
the academic years 2015/2016. In this research, the researcher took two classes as
the sample.
The subject of research is X TKR M class as the experimental group and X MM E
class as the control group. Which is consists of 36 students from each class. While
the instrument that was used in this thesis, was test. In collecting the data, the
researcher used pre-test and post-test. Before conducting post-test, the researcher
gave treatment. After getting enough data, the researcher calculated the data using
t-test polled variance.
The result of this research shows that there is significant effectiveness of teaching
vocabulary using animation video to increase students‟ vocabulary mastery, since
it was found that the result of t-value is 4.072. Based on the 0.05 significant level,
the value of t-table is 1.994, the computation shows that t-value is higher that ttable
that is 4.072>1.994. The research findings indicate that the students are
interested in learning English vocabulary using animation video.
